AboutThis is the personal website of Dan Grossman, a student at Drexel University and owner of Awio Web Services LLC. I use this site to share my thoughts on web development and internet marketing, to keep a log of my work on current projects, and to share what I learn running a business online. I’m a senior at Drexel University pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I’m a lover of learning, taking the maximum course load allowed each term, with subjects ranging from law and management to organic chemistry. I plan to follow this with a masters degree in Computer Science. Awio is a one-man company — forming a company was more about convenience and tax benefits than necessity. I’ve developed and operate all of the websites on the Awio website, with dozens more having been built and sold to new owners. I’ve been creating successful websites since Website Goodies in 1997. I am self-funded, reinvesting only profits from current sites into new development. I take on all roles including software design, development, testing, system administration, accounting, marketing, order processing and customer service. I am one of the most active contributors at the SitePoint forums where over 200,000 web designers, developers and business owners meet to discuss design, programming and business. Since the opening of the forums, I’ve written over 10,000 posts, mostly helping new developers in the PHP area and sharing my results in the promotion techniques area. I’ve been recognized by the members with several awards — Member of the Year 2004, Software Architect of the Year 2006, Marketing Guru of the Year 2006, and Design Contest Holder of the Year 2006. I’ve been interviewed by several online publications and have served as an expert editor for several technical books. I enjoy Japanese pop music, anime, scifi television and driving on highways with great views. I currently live in Philadelphia to attend Drexel University but leave the city at least weekly to escape the suffocating density. I’ve worked as a software developer for Microsoft, DuPont, The Math Forum and Access 2 Vendors (resume). |
