I bought a multitouch laptop

Tax time’s finally come and gone, and I had a really good year in 2008. Awio’s profit was more than 150% of the year before. To my accountant’s surprise, unlike most of the people in his office that month, my business grew the last two quarters of the year instead of sliding with the economy.

I took that as the cue to replace my half-dead “Averatec” laptop with something nicer. I went with an HP tx2z, with a 12.1″ multitouch touchscreen, 4GB RAM, 320GB HD and Vista Ultimate. I spent the last two days setting it up (downloading updates, installing software, replicating my development environment) and exploring the various operation modes: Normal laptop, using my fingers, tablet mode with the stylus, media center with the mini remote tucked into the ExpressCard slot, etc. I like it.
