Design at a snail’s pace

W3Counter Mockup It takes me so long to do so little with Photoshop. Still feels like it’s missing something too. Next thing I need to do, at least, is some CSS text replacement with images for those cruddy people still running IE6 with no anti-aliasing and without my favorite ‘Trebuchet MS’ font.

I won’t have much time to get anything done over the next few days, so no updates for W3Counter users next week. I’ll need to spend tomorrow and Monday working on assignments for classes, then studying for a few mid-week midterms I’m wholly unprepared for. Time to ramp up on the Chinese remainder theorem, implement the Sutherland-Hodgeman algorithm, derive the relationships between aperture and shutter speed on depth of focus, and memorize various asymptotically fast methods of integer multiplication. Fun fun.

On the bright side, I have no social life again, so spending Sunday hard core working on homework is no big loss. And it feels like Sunday night already today. Happens when I’ve got no classes on a Friday and spend the day shopping and watching movies.

Gotta find some time to get out, and to look at grad schools. After midterms I suppose. Weeks like this make me want to take a year off after graduating to write all these apps I want to write.

Reserve a private instance of W3Counter, branded with your name and logo, with your own subdomain or hosted on your own domain.

Does this mean you will let people host on their own server? How will you protect your IP?

No, it will still be a hosted service. Someone can use their own domain by adding a CNAME or A pointer to their DNS record forwarding a subdomain to one of my servers (or VPSes for this) hosting the instance.

Might I suggest a min-width declaration (and width for your IE6 conditional stylesheet)? 800×600 looks quite bad. :)

    Right thanks dan.
