#3 news on Digg.com Technology

W3Counter’s Global Stats page is on the Digg.com home page for its 4th time in the past year. I wonder if it’ll make it to the Diggnation podcast a second time? It’s a shame I don’t run CPM ads since every time this happens I end up with something like 200,000 extra page views over the course of a week. 30,000 so far today.

With load average at 0.65, the extra traffic isn’t even phasing the server. I didn’t know anything had happened until a Google Alert notified me of a ton of new links to the page appearing today. That’s the only reason I like it when this happens — the traffic is temporary, but the links people throw up to everything they find on Digg stick around. I also added an AdSense banner to the page until things die down — might as well make the most of it.
