Snap.com Previews Get Smart

I’ve had Snap.com previews enabled on this blog for a while — it’s what makes a site preview pop up when you mouse over a link to an external site. I just ran across a link to this site on another blog with Snap and was surprised to see something very different appear when I moused over it: The summaries of the last two posts in a mini-RSS feed.

It looks like Snap.com has been busy creating several more types of intelligent Snap Shots. Now, if a site has an RSS feed, a summary of the feed is displayed instead of a screenshot of the site. See for yourself. A MySpace profile link displays a photo and bio of the user. These new types add to a portfolio of 9 other Shots types covering links to a number of popular sites.

Snap makes links self-describing in intelligent ways, and stuffs more information into each page using their free service. I love it.

I like the idea of the service, but I dislike the pop-up images. they get in my way. I know this comes down to personal taste and preference so I get over it :p
