Whoops, I Forgot Something

I realized today I forgot to add one of my e-mail accounts to Thunderbird after my last clean install of Vista on this computer.

Mail Count

In better news, my SoftLayer experience is exceeding expectations. More about that later.

Ouch! Is that full of spam or mostly legitimate e-mail?

After Thunderbird’s spam filter finished with that, less than 500 mails were left unread. Still a lot to go through, but far less than 12,000. It’s sad to see that 96% of all mail I receive is spam.

Damn, you don’t do any sort of server side mail filtering? We’ve had great success with MailScanner (SpamAssassin + ClamAV).

I do have SpamAssassin running with a high threshold setting. I don’t trust SA and would rather let more through and have Thunderbird take care of it with an adaptive filter I can better train.

Ahh, well I assure you that you’re missing out. We’re running RulesDuJour/SARE, using the default scores and dump mail at 5+. We then modified RoundCube to include the Quarantine database and allow users to manage false positives and literally out of the 100,000+ messages processed on a daily basis, we’ve probably had less than 10 false positives in the last 10 months.
